How To Make Dog Cookie Treats

We used to buy dog cookies for our Wolf....but geez, they were getting so expensive, and he Loves eating Cookies....

Every morning, we (and the Wolf) finish our rounds down at the barn, making sure all the animals are fed, watered and their living quarters cleaned up, fresh hay put down, etc.....well, the Gman and I head back up to the kitchen and pour ourselves another Big Coffee.

But before we pour a cup, we have to give the Wolf his Cookie...it's part of the routine. He works hard around here, keeping an eye out for predators during the night, checking up on them during the day....so he deserves his big treat.

Our friends from the Coast were here last year, and P was telling me about this recipe she uses to make her doggie treats....so she kindly forwarded me the recipe, and the Wolf has been eating them ever since! Here it is...thanks P!

2 cups whole wheat flour
1 Tblsp baking powder
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup milk

Mix together and roll out to 1/2" thick - cut into shapes
bake 20 min in 375 oven - leave them on the cookie sheet to cool. Then keep them in an open container so that they will harden up (at least our Wolf likes them that way!)

He oh so carefully takes it from our hand.....

and takes a bite, and puts the rest on his blankie...then he finishes it.

And....then he licks his blankie off...and settles on his blanket for a good nap...after all, he's been up All Night!
