My New Hair

Chatting with my friend from the Boston area this morning, I was mentioning how much my hair has changed. She wants to see pictures, so I thought I'd put them up on the blog....

Most of you know I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. This coming Monday will be the one year anniversary.....what a lot has happened in these last 12 months!

But I'm still here and for that I am glad.....

So here's what the hair used to look like.....mostly blonde and straight. BTW, I don't colour my hair and never have.....my roots have always been dark, then my hair lightens as it gets longer....

And....now....

It's brown and has a LOT of waves in it!

I haven't curled it at all....all I did was brush it after having my shower.

It's OK, I don't mind it....but it is just so different looking! I laugh when I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror!

Apparently, this happens to a lot of people who lose their hair due to chemotherapy. I'm just glad I have hair again!

Yes, be thankful that you have hair! So many straight-haired women would love to have some wave in their hair! I think you look great ~smile~

I wonder what it will look like a year from now! Mary was a strawberry blond with straight hair. She's now a brunette with wavy hair.

It's amazing how our hair changes isn't it. We had a group discussion last night about how hair changes with the onset of pregnancies and we mused about if it was the change in hormones. Certainly you have added to that theory and another dimension to the endocrine system. The up side is unlike most of us, you get to try straight and curly. It has been my experience that most woman want what they haven't got! It will be interesting to see it with a bit more length too. Thanks for sharing too because it's not easy to bare yourself and invite comment. You're true blue (a high Australian compliment meaning you're ridgey didge)

I think you're looking good! I'm taking my mom out shopping tomorrow for some hats and scarves. She starts chemo next week and the doc said it won't be long and her hair will come out. I like your wavy hair!

Annie

Didn't know abot the breast cancer - but the hair looks great - styles itself LOL, keeps the sun off your head in summer and keeps you warmer in winter.

Thanks for the pic - always nice to see a photo of a new friend - makes you more real, if you know what I mean.

Thanks everyone for your comments! I did go and get my hair trimmed, so all the little fuzzy ends are gone now.

I am going to grow my hair long and then shave it all off and donate it to the Look Good Feel Good Program.

I feel it's osmething I need to do...I got a lot of help from them and I want to give back.

Robin, thanks for the Mary update, I have been wondering how she is doing!
