Dandelion Wine

I came across a recipe last week for making Dandelion Wine. Since it's That time of year, I figured I would give it a try....

We bought this crock from a friend of a friend....it'll come in handy, not only for wine, but sauerkraut too!

Gathered the 3 quarts of dandelions and put them in the crock.
Here they are with the boiling water poured over them.

The next day, I took a peek. Didn't think it looked that tasty, actually!

But, it's getting better now.....

sliced up oranges and lemons to go in the crock, after taking the dandelions out....

with the yeast sprinkled on top....now it has to sit for 15 days, and be stirred every day....

Here's hoping it turns out! I know someone who has tasted it before and they said it was really good!

I like to make wine also. I use a 5 gallon glass bottle.Makes a lot of wine! I just read your recipe for pickled eggs. I love them and have chickens(6 hens),so am always looking for some way to use them.I usually give some to friends and neighbours.I have a tip for you on boiling and peeling eggs.It really works too! Put eggs in a kettle of water and add a lot of SALT to the water.Cook as usual and cool in cold water. You will be amazed at how easy they are to peel! Doris
