In the Greenhouse

It's planted, finally.....

The remaining tomatoes got planted a couple of days ago.....

Tomatoes blooming already (bad me, they should have been planted earlier)

Nice roots......

See the sucker? It's coming up between the main and side stem....

Pinch the suckers out.....

Left side, planted in tomatoes, with 2 squash in the back corner. They will hopefully send out trailing stems that will cover the bases of the tomatoes.

Corn, 3 rows along the back wall.

Different kinds of squash and pumpkin along this side. I had room in the greenhouse for squash, because I lost some of the tomatoes that should have been here.

My tomatoes also have a few flowers now. With all the fish that you are catching, do you eat themall up are do you frz someof them for later?

Hello!
I have a question for you regarding your tomatoes...What is the purpose of pinching the suckers? Thanks so much if you could answer that!

Save the suckers and put them in water to root... voila... free tomato plant. :0)

You pinch off the suckers Ashley because they take the good stuff the main plant needs...kinda like a parasite..lol.

Krissy, we're still just eating the fish fresh....plus we give the odd one away to friends. If we get lucky and limit out, we will pull out the canner and get started!

HI Ashley, yes, as Stone Bridge says, it is to send all the energy into growing the plant UP, to end up with more maters....you will see later, I will start pulling off the low branches, too!

Stonebridge, great idea about using suckers to make more tomato plants!!!

Since my tomatoes are really huge, about 3.5 feet give or take....it's to late for me to do that I suppose. Does the same go for pepper plants? My peppers are still very small...?? Thanks for your patience...I thought I knew a bit, in no way would I say I knew a lot =-) But I had never heard of the suckers before your blog, which by the way, I look forward to reading every day after work! You really inspire me!

Ashley, hope you read this very late reply from me (sorry) but no, you won't have suckers on the pepper plants....

and you can and should pull suckers off your tomatoes whenever you see them, no matter if the plant is 1 foot tall or 5 feet tall.

From Loser Annie replying MONTHS later.....
