Canoeing on a Nearby Lake

Yesterday late afternoon it was soooo hot here! We wanted to beat the heat and so went down to a nearby lake....da Wolf was happy running in and out of the water. He's not a swimmer, more like a wader.

Gman and I headed out in the canoe, with da Wolf running on shore along with us.....then we saw a Bear! And it was a good sized black bear....da Wolf had not yet seen it.

We turned around and started paddling back, calling to him to come....which he did. It's a Good Thing he hadn't smelled the bear yet, I guess the wind was going the other way.  The bear must have smelled him, because it took off into the bushes....

da Wolf followed us back and we put him in the truck to wait for us. We didn't want to chance a wolf/bear encounter!!!

We didn't stay out on the water very long, maybe 45 minutes. We kept wondering if the Bear had found the truck yet! But we figured we would have heard the growling and barking if the two of them had met up.

It was beautiful to be out on the water under sunny skies. There was a light breeze blowing, so it was refreshing.... Sphere: Related Content

It was WAY too hot here in the Peace Country as well ... and only a bit better today. I couldn't go out to the lake, I had to haul fuel in order to cover the time-off-cost of my next surgery. Your pictures, and close encounter story helped make it a little cooler.
Pretty pictures!

We were trying hard to get back to da wolf before he went around the corner and saw the bear!

Dave, we have cooled off a bit here, is it the same there?
