Gardens and Barn

We had a busy busy day yesterday....when one of our neighbours learned we were building the other half to the barn, he mentioned he had a Lot of insulation left over from their project....did we want it? If not, it was going to the landfill, of course we said YES, lol....and in exchange, we brought over a chicken from last year....

and our other friends had the trailer full of manure for us, so we combined the trips and picked it all up....

probably half the manure load went into that middle part of the berry bed the girls have been working.....then I put about half of my hens in there, locked them in and asked them to get to work!

about 1/4 went onto what will be the third strawberry bed (pic on left)

and about 1/4 went here....this is by the entry to our house. I have always really liked those large rocks and want to make a flower/shrub combo bed here....

I had started to outline the bed with extra rocks, but I don't really like the look of it...I am thinking it detracts from the nicer looking large rocks at the back....so I think I will try logs for the front border of that bed....

On the agenda today, the Gman is already in town picking up some OSB etc for the meat bird room down at the barn. We're hoping to get it insulated today, and he can start putting up the OSB....

The other day, we brought in a bunch of dirt and raked it to bring up the floor level of the meat bird room....here's a pic of how it looks right now.

We're making good progress around here, there's still lots to do though!
