Posts for the Next Few Days....

Over the next several days, I am going to be reposting some of our older posts. A lot of the older posts have a really good amount of information in them....from veggie gardening, to raising laying hens, meat birds and pigs.

There are a few reasons I'm going to be pulling up these old posts....

1) We have new readers. Also, can our regular readers remember what was being posted last January? I think not.....I want everyone to have some good basic information to get started on their path.

2)  Winter time is THE best time for planning. Have you started looking thru seed catalogues and planning out your garden beds? Have you made a decision to bring in some laying hens, so you can have fresh eggs for your family? Have you given good consideration to buying a weaner pig, so you can fill your freezer with about 200 lbs of fantastic home raised pork?

NOW is the time to start thinking about these things and planning for them. Don't go buying a weaner pig, bring it home and THEN figure out how to house it. Take a few evenings, with a cup of hot tea and discuss with your family what the plans and goals are for 2011.

Try to NOT bite off more than you can chew. I think you are far better off to start small....have successes and then build on those.

Planning is key! If you have any questions, please just ask.

3) The other reason I am reposting is because....hey, I won't actually be here! (Gotta love being able to schedule your Blogger posts!)

We're going to be travelling later this week....we are headed to Vancouver Island. We both have our families and lots of friends there, as that is where we both grew up.

I'll still be posting new information....and I'll be around if readers have any questions. But it's time for a nice break, to go and see old friends and colleagues. We're really looking forward to it! Sphere: Related Content
